Etz Chaim is a vibrant and dynamic Synagogue located in the heart of the Jewish area in the north of Leeds.

When stepping into Etz Chaim, you’ll instantly feel the warmth as you are welcomed into the friendly congregation.

Our wonderful congregation is full of all different personalities across all ages, and we regularly welcome new members.

But what is most important, is that when you are a member of Etz Chaim, you are a part of an extended family that will always be with you, sharing your joys and sorrows. Everyone is open minded, and willing to listen.

Services that Etz Chaim provides the community:

There are a whole range of benefits to becoming a member of Etz Chaim…

A range of  social and cultural events to please all age groups, which are held all year around, including the Friendship Club, baking fairs, kids carnivals, dinners, BBQs and much more.

Weekly Shabbat Services followed by a delicious Kiddush with savoury and sweet snacks, whilst Chat and Chill takes place in a side room. The afternoon services are followed by a Seudah with refreshments.

Children’s Service and Torah Tots for young children where there are fun activities and treats for all who attend.

A choice of highly qualified and well-versed Rabbis to turn to for rabbinical guidance and any general advice.
A selection of talks and discussions are available for those who wish to join, some of which are also on Zoom.
A weekly newsletter with local updates and information about upcoming events.

Smaller, inclusive events and get-togethers exclusive to Shul members.

A closer connection to the Rabbi’s who look out for each of their members, calling them in times of joy and in times of sorrow.

A special birthday Kiddush which is held monthly in honour of all those whose birthdays are during that month.

Personalised cards and gifts are sent out to members on all landmark birthdays and occasions.

A free copy of our twice-yearly newsletter ‘Shabbat Shalom’ which is full of interesting articles, local updates and history.

Our yearly calendar which contains the Shabbat & festivals times, local community services and much more.

You will receive letters to remind you of any family member’s upcoming Yahrzeits.

When the time comes, burial costs are all inclusive at Etz Chaim.

And finally, the warmth of a community where members look out for each other and care for one another!

Once you are a member, if you would like to volunteer or help out in any way, we are always open to welcoming members onto our council or onto our social and cultural committee.
